Whether you’re looking at bridal styles, prom styles or hairstyles for a special occasion, this hair guide can help! We’ll take you through all of the latest trends and styles so that your hair has the wow factor on your big day!

If you’re going to a prom, this is probably the biggest event in your life so far and it will be until you get married! That’s why we’re incorporating these two events into one great hair guide for your special day. We want you to choose a hairstyle that you love but that also makes you feel like a VIP!

Wedding Hair Up-Dos

It has become a tradition that brides wear their hair up. Choosing an up-do doesn’t make you old fashioned, however. Whilst keeping with tradition, you can certainly choose a modern hairstyle to suit your wedding theme and style. Before you look at different styles with your hairdresser, it’s a good idea to show him or her what your dress looks like. This means your hairstyle will match the theme of your wedding or occasion. For example, if your dress is a 50s style dress, your stylist will be able to come up with a stunning up-do to go with it.

Even though traditional wedding up-dos are still preferred for many brides, stylists have seen a resurgence of retro and vintage hairstyles. You can also incorporate a veil, some flowers, a clip or a jeweled tiara into your hairstyle. Make sure you bring any accessories to your consultations and hair trials too.

Wedding Hair Worn Down

If you’re struggling to know whether to have your hair up or down for your wedding or prom, look at the neckline of your dress. For a dress that is strapless or has spaghetti straps or a low back, long, curly hair that cascades to one side or down the back can really look sensational. If all down isn’t your thing, you can dress this style up with plaits or in a half-up, half-down style.

Short Bridal and Prom Hairstyles

Your short hair is actually quite versatile! There are hundreds of different bridal and prom hairstyles for shorter hair. First things first, however – you need a really great cut. Whatever the look you’re wanting to achieve, you can add texture and volume really well to short hair and you can dress it nicely with bridal accessories.

Braids and Plaits for Proms and Special Occasions

These are great for prom hair or wedding party hair. Plaits are flirty and fun so this could be the best prom style to go for. There are loads of different types of plaits and braids so take a look online so that you know what to ask your stylist for. Have a look at fishtail plaits, waterfall braids, up-dos, and buns that incorporate small plaits, and pinned-up braids.

Make your Curls Glam for Prom

For a true red-carpet feel, go curly! Curls are so easy to achieve these days and you don’t need to go to drastic lengths by getting a perm (although this is an option too, of course). Stylists are super skilled in all sorts of curls so whether you’re after spiral curls, corkscrew curls, or waves, they’ll be able to achieve the right look for you.

Up-dos for parties and proms

Up-dos are still really popular for proms and that’s because there are so many different choices! If you want to go traditional, why not choose an elegant bun? Or, you could get something a little more edgy like a side bun!

Prom styles for short hair

If you have short hair, you should really make sure you have a decent cut and blow-dry before your big day. You can still have a really great style added to a short hairdo. For example, you can make a short style more sophisticated by incorporating a low parting on one of the sides and making the hair super smooth and slick on that side. Another thing to consider is micro-plaits, which are really on-trend right now. Play around with waves, volume, and asymmetrical looks. The possibilities are endless!
